Description
Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana (TRSL) seeks an experienced professional to serve as the Investment Manager of Private Markets. TRSL maintains a $30 billion portfolio with a sophisticated diversified asset allocation. The Alternative Assets and Real Estate portfolio is currently allocated at 52% of plan assets and is made up of over 450 individual fund commitments and 145 general partnership relationships. This work requires: strong communication and decision-making skills; familiarity with private markets analysis and research; and a working understanding of the TRSL investment policy statement (IPS).
The incumbent will assist the Investment Director of Private Markets with the defined benefit trust portfolio. This work requires: analytical independent judgement and decision; communications with senior investment, executive, accounting, legal personnel, and TRSL Board of Trustees. The incumbent will work with the Investment Director of Private Markets to oversee overall performance compilation for all asset classes, work with the Director regarding investment policy compliance, investment manager/class due diligence, and preparation of monthly investment committee material related to private markets.
Salary Range:
$43.27-$86.54 hourly or $90,001.60-$180,003.20 annually

Required Qualifications:
Requires a working knowledge of private investment markets, private market terminology, private market underwriting, limited partnership agreement review, private placement memorandum review, economic theories, investment principles, cash management, securities trading, and investment accounting. Must possess strong analytical, data analysis, reporting, and portfolio management skills.
Must possess at least two (2) years of experience in the investment industry.
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, economics, finance, or a closely related field will substitute for one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in business administration, finance, or accounting
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charter Holder or actively enrolled in the Chartered Financial Analyst Program exam series
Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA)
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Attorney (member of any Bar Association in good standing)
Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Investment Director of Private Markets with:
Portfolio due diligence, reviewing offering documents, due diligence calls, and interfacing with Private Market Managers, Co-Investment Managers, and the General Consultant
Meet with prospective fund managers of strategies not currently employed
Conduct reviews of investment opportunities and market trends
Perform portfolio reviews with currently hired managers
Reporting and analysis of current portfolio, including preparation and compiling components of the TRSL Board Investment Committee report
Independently analyze investment data from managers to determine compliance with system policies, CFA Institute standards, state and federal laws, and manager investment guidelines
The enhancement, implementation, and maintenance of alternative asset and real estate software and custodial systems
Assigned additional duties as deemed necessary by the Investment Director of Private Markets, Chief Investment Officer, Deputy Chief Investment Officer, executive management, or the TRSL Board of Trustees
