Our client is seeking a Certified Teachers Assistant in Queens, NY. Compensation starting at $22/hr, varies based on experience.

CLIENT'S HOURS
* Monday - Friday during school hours

SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY

* Assist students in completing classroom assignments, homework and projects. Assure student understanding of classroom rules and procedures and assist students by answering questions, providing proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude and general guidance.
* Assist the classroom teacher in arranging the learning environment, including assembling and putting materials on bulletin boards and/or other classroom learning displays and in keeping such displays current.
* Read to students, listen to students read and observe students reading abilities as assigned. Assist students with letter and word pronunciation and recognition. Assist students with math, spelling and writing exercises and assignments.
* Assist assigned teacher with the implementation of lesson plans. Administer various tests as directed. Prepare mandated reports and documentation as required.

CLIENT'S REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
* A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
*Teachers Assistant Certification in NY
* Experience teaching children for one year or more
* Clearance through state mandated Background check
* Fingerprinting by the DOE is required
* TB Testing
* Reliable Transportation

Description: A NYS certified Teaching Assistant who provides direct instructional services to students under the general supervision of a New York State certified Special Education Teacher.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* High School Diploma or GED.
* NYS Certification of at least a Level 1 Teaching Assistant.
* Experience working with special needs children.
* Ability to run.
* Ability to safely assist lifting individuals of various weights & 20 lb items.
* Clearance through state mandated Background/Fingerprint Check(s).
* Must be able to communicate effectively with others and individuals served.
* Qualifications are subject to change in accordance with government regulations.
