Description

The History Department at Missouri State University in Springfield, MO invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor position in Social Studies and/or History Education.  The successful candidate will be one of three faculty in the department whose primary responsibilities include providing courses in Secondary Social Science methods, supervising pre-service teachers, and other administrative duties as related to education accreditation and advising. Candidates must be prepared to serve as the Director of the BSED program. Additional undergraduate and graduate course offerings will depend upon the successful candidate’s area of specialization in history and/or area studies. Candidates must have relevant teaching experience in a secondary classroom and Ph.D. in History or History/Social Studies Education or related field. Outstanding candidates at the A.B.D. level will be considered but must complete the Ph.D. within one year of initial appointment.  To apply, please submit a cover letter, curriculum vita, three confidential letters of recommendation and two syllabi: 1) a U.S. or World History survey and 2) a social studies methods or an upper-level History course.  The successful candidate will conduct and publish research in their field and do appropriate service.
