Description
The Structural Engineer I plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard procedures and criteria used in the design of building structures. A Structural Engineer I is able to devise new approaches to problems encountered.
A Structural Engineer I plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. They perform work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features, such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. Work requires a broad knowledge of precedents and the principles and practices of structural engineering.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyze project goals and perform structural calculations
Plan layout and detail development
Detailed knowledge of analysis and plan productive software (AutoCAD/Revit)
Full structural design drawing assembly and specification compilation for projects of several types and scales
Perform full range of construction administration tasks: RFI’s, submittal review, site observation visits
Be aware of and comply with project schedules
Maintain orderly paper and electronic files
Routine client communication on non-controversial items
Assist associates with administrative and development assignments as requested/directed
Monitor project progress using input from Project Manager

Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum or equivalent plus appropriate continuing education
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) required
Member of professional society (member grade)
