Description

This position is accountable for supervising and directing all construction engineering functions layout, inspection and documentation which is required on major urban and suburban construction projects so as to ensure their timely completion in accordance with plans, specifications, special provision and sound engineering practices.

Essential Functions

• Supervises highway improvements to obtain timely and quality construction in compliance with the plans, special provisions, standard specifications, and acceptable engineering practices.
• Provides appropriate documentation for each phase of project implementation.
• Provides complete and accurate documentation to ensure timely acceptance and finalization of projects.
• Develops effective cooperation between the contractor, the district and other governmental agencies to facilitate project completion.
• Trains and motivates subordinate staff to improve productivity.
• Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs duties in compliance with department safety rules.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois.
• Four years of experience in civil engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 4-6 years of highway related construction engineering experience.
• Strong, proven, administrative, and managerial skills.
• Extensive experience in a responsible position involving organizational skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
