The Associate Administrator is responsible for student attendance, athletics, classified staff, and handling student discipline problems. Preferred candidates will have a range of experience in grades 6-8 and demonstrated knowledge of effective practices used to reach the needs of all students, with particular expertise in improving instruction and student achievement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supports principal in building management, student discipline, and parent communication. Assists the principal and staff in the efficient handling of the day-to-day building operations. Serves as a liaison in planning, communicating and coordinating a variety of building activities and/or programs. Act as primary evaluator for classified and athletics staff within the school. Provides leadership and support in creating a safe school environment that is conducive to learning. Serves as a referral source for disciplinary problems. Evaluates the nature of the problem and initiates corrective actions or refers the problem to the appropriate authority. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere. Reviews attendance reports to identify absenteeism problems and truancies. Counsels with students, teachers, other administrators, and parents to identify, clarify, and understand attendance problems and assists with determining satisfactory solutions. Conducts a variety of committee meetings and attends selected school and community activities both during and after school. Assists in identifying district and community resources for school programs. Works collaboratively with principal and staff to implement the School Improvement Plan, including professional development. Develops and maintains effective professional relationships with staff, students and community. Demonstrates understanding of and models a variety of appropriate strategies in effectively interacting with staff, students and parents. Uses effective, creative approaches to resolving conflict situations. Work in close collaboration with the Principal, lead and facilitate building-level professional development focused on student learning; communicate on professional development activities. Provide mentoring support for new teachers. Assist in facilitating the school's early intervention services (i.e.. grade level teams, PLCs, RTI, etc) to support students in receiving targeted academic support. Support principal in the analysis of student performance data. Participate in district training and principal academies. Perform appropriate tasks as designated by the Principal in relation to the responsibilities listed above. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS This position reports to the building principal at the assigned site.
MENTAL DEMANDS Experiences frequent interruptions; required to meet inflexible deadlines; requires concentration and attention to detail; may occasionally deal with distraught or difficult individuals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Washington State Teaching credential. Minimum 3-5 years teaching experience. Administrative credential or acceptance in an administrative credential program. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement appropriate positive behavior interventions for students. Demonstrated leadership ability. Evidence of skill and expertise in effective conflict resolution. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated enthusiasm, creativity and innovativeness. Demonstrated competence for successful performance of the responsibilities listed. Experience with economically and culturally diverse populations. Knowledge and experience with special education populations. 3-5 years of demonstrated successful teaching experience. Preference given to candidates with a range or grade level experiences in grades 6-9 in the Bethel School District. A working knowledge of current District student achievement initiatives (No Excuses University, RTI, making middle grades work, high schools that work, etc.). Ability to structure time and manage multiple priorities independently.
Licenses/Special Requirements Requires fingerprinting and background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving physical molestation, abuse, injury or neglect of a minor.
UNIT AFFILIATION This is a non-union, Manager Level 3 exempt position.
