The University of North Alabama’s Department of Engineering & Industrial Professions (E&IP) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Occupational Health Science. This position will support the Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health Science (OHS) program, with primary teaching responsibilities delivered through the Guizhou University–University of North Alabama International College of Engineering and Technology located in Guiyang, China. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. All instruction is delivered in English. This position follows a hybrid instructional model and requires international travel, including a minimum of eight (8) weeks of face-to-face instruction in Guiyang, China, during both the fall and spring semesters, with remaining instruction delivered online. North Alabama and the Guiyang region are home to diverse industrial and manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of occupational safety and health curriculum aligned with regional workforce needs and industry demands. The candidate will support ongoing curricular refinement and program development consistent with evolving occupational health and safety standards and professional practice.
The successful candidate will be expected to: Teach undergraduate courses in the BS Occupational Health Science (OHS) program related but not limited to: OSHA general industry regulations (29 CFR 1910), environmental regulations, physical agents, and toxicology; teach in international instructional settings, including a minimum of eight (8) weeks of face-to-face instruction in China during both the fall and spring semesters; develop and revise courses and laboratory experiences as program needs evolve; engage in scholarly activity appropriate for a tenure-track appointment; participate fully in department, college, and university service activities; attend and actively participate in department meetings, committee assignments, and other required university meetings in person (or via approved remote participation when teaching abroad); and develop and maintain relationships with industry partners to support applied learning and workforce development initiatives.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, administration, and industry partners; experience working with diverse student populations and cross-cultural environments; strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability and willingness to teach a varied and evolving occupational health curriculum; ability to design and implement laboratory exercises and hands-on instructional activities; and the ability and willingness to travel internationally and comply with visa and travel requirements associated with instruction in China.

Requirements
PhD in industrial hygiene, environmental health, safety sciences/safety engineering, environmental/industrial engineering, or a closely related discipline is required; five or more years of professional industry experience in occupational and environmental health and safety is preferred; experience teaching at the college/university level is preferred; and professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or other relevant EHS credentials are preferred.
