This position is based in the Butler Columbia Aging Center, reporting to Dr. Linda Fried.  The work will involve analyses of Experience Corps and other data, considering the evidence on creation of social capital and its benefits and also factors necessary to create healthy longevity. 

We are seeking a highly motivated Staff Associate I (Statistician) to support research focused on population health, intervention evaluation, and aging-related outcomes. The primary responsibility of this position will be the development and implementation of microsimulation models to project the potential effects of interventions delivered at scale under varying assumptions and policy scenarios. The position will also involve statistical analyses of longitudinal population-based survey data and causal inference analyses, including Complier Average Causal Effect (CACE) modeling to estimate intervention effects among treatment compliers.

The Staff Associate I (Statistician) will work closely with investigators and multidisciplinary collaborators on study design, data management, statistical programming, analysis, interpretation, and preparation of reports and manuscripts.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and implement microsimulation models to evaluate population-level impact of interventions under alternative assumptions and implementation scenarios
• Conduct longitudinal data analyses using data from population surveys and observational studies
• Perform causal inference analyses, including CACE and related modeling approaches
• Manage, clean, harmonize, and analyze complex datasets
• Develop reproducible statistical programming workflows and analytic documentation
• Contribute to study reports, presentations, manuscripts, and grant applications
• Collaborate effectively with investigators, analysts, and multidisciplinary research teams

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Biostatistics, Public Health, Statistics, Epidemiology, or a related quantitative field and 4 years of experience preferred
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills
• Proficiency in statistical programming using R, SAS, Python, or Stata
• Experience with statistical programming, data management, and reproducible analytic workflows
• Experience analyzing longitudinal or repeated-measures data
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Public Health, Statistics, Epidemiology, or a related quantitative field

• Familiarity with causal inference methods, including CACE modeling, inverse probability weighting, or instrumental variable approaches, is desirable.
• Experience with Monte Carlo simulation, or other population-based simulation modeling approaches is preferred.
• Prior work experience in public health, healthcare, medical research, or related sectors
• Experience working in collaborative or multidisciplinary team environments

Temporary 1 year position; 2^nd year contingent on funding

Appointments are made on a fiscal year basis and are eligible for renewal each July 1st, contingent upon performance and funding.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000
