Job Title: Administrative Assistant (Part-Time, Non-Profit) Organization: Head Start California Position Type: Part-Time (20 hrs/wk) | $23.00 - $25.00/hr Location: Sacramento, CA (Hybrid / Remote with 1 partial day in office) 

About Head Start California: Head Start California is a 501(c)(3) association dedicated to ending the generational cycle of poverty through early education and family support. We advocate for and support the teachers, health professionals, and staff serving California’s most vulnerable children. 

Role Summary: We are hiring an Administrative Assistant to serve as a foundational support layer for our non-profit association’s efforts in governance, communications, membership operations, and major signature events. 

Duties Include:

• Managing daily office operations, basic bookkeeping receipts, and communications.
• Supporting 5 annual signature conferences (logistics, speakers, collateral).
• Supporting Board of Directors meetings logistics, committee rosters, and elections.
• Maintaining our association management database (Novi AMS). 

Qualifications:

• Associate degree or 1 year administrative/volunteer experience.
• Tech-savvy (Microsoft 365, Zoom, Canva; Novi AMS or PheedLoop experience is a plus).
• Commitment to diversity and nonprofit mission work.
• Head Start alumni, parents, and former staff preferred!

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Associates degree in a related field; or 
• 1 year paid or volunteer experience in an administrative role, or other tasks relevant to this position, and a diploma or equivalent.

Preferred:

• Experience in an administrative role, or other tasks relevant to this position
• Familiarity with event management platforms—such as PheedLoop—is highly desirable
• Familiarity with association management software—such as Novi AMS (the platform we use)—is highly desirable
• Knowledge of and/or interest in Head Start (preference will be given to Head Start parents, alumni, or former staff)
• Bilingual
