The Full Time or Part Time Nurse will monitor and supervise the health care needs of residents to assure that physical wellness is encouraged through adequate health services and appropriate referrals.
Principal Accountabilities:
Carefully assess the medical needs of every resident and respond with an appropriate course of action.
Support the residents and their families in identification of medical priorities and provide appropriate responses to individual needs, concerns and complaints.
Promote a health conscious professional approach among the residential and educational staff of Abbott House through direction and support to cooks, housekeepers, group leaders, program coordinators, and teachers.
Demonstrate and implement accountability in the administration of medical care at the Agency.
Participate in providing appropriate medical services through oversight of referrals to outside providers of services.
Maintain thorough and appropriate medical documentation and collect such records as are necessary for the responsible care of residents.
Assure adequate and secure health care supplies.
Respond to other expectations of the Agency and/or supervisors.
Requirements
Licensed as a Registered Nurse or LPN, meeting the requirements for practice in South Dakota.
Experience and training for work with children and youth.
Certification in CPR.
Familiar with health assessment instruments.
Ability to work cooperatively with other professionals and support staff.
