Description
The Department of Agriculture at the American University of Beirut invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor Position in Soil science. The department seeks a dynamic scholar capable of developing a strong research program in soil science while contributing to the undergraduate and graduate teaching missions. The incumbent will build upon the department’s capabilities and advance new directions that respond to emerging challenges in sustainable land and resource management. The incumbent in should be able to develop active collaborations nationally and internationally, to advise graduate and undergraduate students, to engage with relevant stakeholders. The planned start date is August 15, 2026.
Requirements
Qualifications:
* Ph.D. in Soil Science, Soil Fertility, or Plant Nutrition
* Demonstrated potential for developing an externally funded research program
* Commitment to excellence in teaching and student mentorship
* Ability to contribute effectively within a collaborative academic environment
Responsibilities:
* Establish and maintain an active, externally funded research program in soil science with a strong focus on soil fertility and plant nutrition (40% Research)
* Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in soil chemistry, soil fertility, and plant nutrition areas (4 courses per year) and advise and mentor graduate students (50% teaching)
* Contribute to departmental service, curriculum development, and interdisciplinary initiatives (10% Services)
