OverviewHope Valley Country Club Overview
Hope Valley Country Club is an 18 - hole member owned club located in Durham NC, the club was founded in 1926. Designed by Donald Ross, Hope Valley is proud of its rich history in the game. The highlight of which was hosting the 1945 Durham Open, a PGA TOUR stop that was Byron Nelson's 4th consecutive victory on his way to his record 11 straight. Hope Valley's classic Ross design has also hosted other notable tournaments including the North Carolina Amateur, Carolinas Junior Championship, the Carolinas Junior Girls Championship and most recently the annual playing of the Hope Valley Junior Invitational.
Hope Valley has an active golf program that provides tournament and instructional opportunities for all demographics within the membership.
The club recently completed a range renovation project that included a significant increase in grass tee space for daily activity and the teaching tee. The project also included construction of a short game practice green with a bunker. To go along with the range renovation project, the club committed to improve its instruction and club fitting program by purchasing a GC Quad Launch Monitor, DryRainge Portable Shelter and supporting hardware for additional technology.
In 2027, the golf course will go through a 10-month restoration conducted by architect Kris Spence. During this time, the driving range will remain open and be the hub of the golf program. Individual instruction and group programing will be an integral part of our success for the year.
To go along with the facility improvements, the club is looking to hire a Full Time Teaching Professional. This individual will be responsible for the programming, execution and leadership of the instructional offerings at the club. The ideal candidate must be a highly motivated and detail oriented individual able to work in a multi - faceted team environment.
Position Overview
Hope Valley Country Club is seeking an individual to serve as their Full Time Teaching Professional. The position will report directly to the Head Golf Professional, Bob Byrnes. This role will be overseeing the teaching and player development programs. Priorities for this new hire include continuing and implementing play development programs for golfers of all levels, providing expert personal instruction, mentoring other teammates in coaching along with building relationships with the members.
Experience Required
- PGA Class A Member or LPGA Member preferred
- Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university
- Professional experience at private clubs with strong instruction-focused responsibilities
- Strong verbal / written communication skills
- Must be able to develop, maintain, and grow relationships with members and staff.
- Approachable and positive attitude with members of all skill levels with a proven ability to build a regular student base that shows continued improvement
- Must be experienced and proficient in instructional technologies.
Essential Responsibilities
- Oversight of all instruction and program offerings.
- Implement creative new program offerings for members of all skill levels and demographics within the club.
- Mentoring teammates in modern coaching best practices.
- Provide elite-level personal instruction and club fitting.
- Build strong relationships with the membership.
- Be an outstanding teammate to the entire golf operations staff
- Training of golf professionals and instruction of staff to enhance the program depth of teachers.
- Manage daily billing and financial reconciliations.
- Communicate and follow up with both members and staff in a timely and professional manner.
