As a Manufacturing Engineer at Lutron, you will contribute to high-stakes projects from the start. Additionally, you may explore other diverse opportunities in key areas of the business including product management, quality, operations, and more. Manufacturing Engineers at Lutron participate within a cross-functional team to conceptualize, design, and develop innovative, high-quality consumer products and services for commercial and residential use. There are a variety of technical areas throughout the product lifecycle that you could encounter from day one, such as:
- Assembly process development and optimization, including time studies, production line balancing, and pareto/defect analysis
- Development and effective documentation of standard work procedures and product manufacturing process notebooks
- Specification of requirements for tooling and work stations
- Application of Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DfM and DfA) principles, and how to provide effective feedback to product design teams throughout design cycle
- Project management skills, particularly as related to coordinating logistics and efforts between engineering, operations, and manufacturing plant
- Industry standard techniques and best practices for manufacturing quality improvement, such as Six Sigma
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with product design, production plant, and tooling teams to design consumer products for high-volume manufacturability
- Utilize Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA) concepts to analyze new products
- Execute assembly line design and process development to meet labor and quality goals
- Support production of new products, from prototype builds through transfer to a long-term facility
- Collect and analyze process quality data for presentation to key stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical EngineeringMinimum, cumulative GPA of 3.00 for each degree earned0-3 years' experience in a related fieldWillingness to travel up to 10 20% of the time for inter-office collaboration, international production line bring-up, etc.
