Position: PRINCIPAL PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER (TRAFFIC)
Salary Range: $112,856 to $190,482 Annually, negotiable depending on qualifications
Department: Engineering & Public Works/Traffic
Location: 2300 N. Jog Road, WPB
Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday - Friday
Other: Valid Florida Driver’s License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
Palm Beach County’s Engineering and Public Works Department’s Traffic Division is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Professional Engineer to manage the Traffic Signal and Street Lighting Design section in the Traffic Engineering Division.
Performs administrative and management work responsible for planning, coordinating and approving the work of professional and technical staff. Responsible for supervising activities of the Traffic Signal and Street Lighting Design section, including the production of signal design and street lighting projects, administering construction project contracts, managing project budgets, administering the County's street lighting maintenance agreements, coordinating with project developers and other contractors regarding traffic signal and street lighting design and construction, and traffic signal and street lighting plan review. Work is very complex in nature and requires a high level of independent judgment, effective communication and decision making. Work is performed under general direction of an administrative superior and it’s reviewed through conferences, report and results obtained.

QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires you to possess a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, or closely related field. Additionally, you will need a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in professional traffic engineering; however, if you possess a related Master's Degree, the position will require only six (6) years of experience in professional traffic engineering. Two (2) years of experience in the supervisory aspects of engineering are also required.
Additionally, you must be licensed as Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida or licensed as a P.E. in another state and obtain a license as a P.E. in the State of Florida within 11 months of hire.
