Physics Instructor
Indian Springs School, the premier coed, independent day and boarding school in the Southeast, invites passionate, experienced Physics teachers to join a talented Science department. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach diverse learners and a wide range of physics concepts, skills, and topics, ranging from conceptual to all levels of AP (AP 1, AP C: Mechanics, AP C: Electricity and Magnetism), and potentially more. Special consideration will be given to candidates who can also teach mathematics courses.
This full-time position requires teaching 5 courses with a start date in August 2026. Additional expectations include leading co-curricular activities, advising a group of students, engaging in faculty training and professional development, and actively participating in community life; responsibilities of the role are listed below in more detail. On-campus housing may be available for candidates interested in Residential Life. Advanced degrees, AP experience, and 5-10 years of teaching experience are preferred. Responsibilities of the Position
The responsibilities enumerated below may change at the discretion of Indian Springs School as required to carry out the School’s programming.
Full-Time Faculty responsibilities include and are not limited to:
Teaching five classes or the equivalent in other duties.
Acting as an advisor to a group of students.
Attending all faculty meetings, grade level team meetings, and Town Meetings.
Sponsoring at least one extra-curricular club or student government position and/or serving on a committee by invitation.
Chaperoning at least one major student life event, as determined by the Dean of Faculty and Dean of Students’ Office.
Attending at least six (6) extra-curricular events per semester including, but not limited to, theater productions, athletic events, musical performances or other campus-wide events.
Being present on campus 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. daily.
Being available for extra help in your office or classroom until 4:00 p.m. daily.
On-Campus Faculty responsibilities include and are not limited to:
Being present on duty days/nights and fulfill all responsibilities, including but not limited to actively building community, driving (passenger car and 14-passenger bus), attendance at meals, supervision and active presence in the dorms, planning and managing activities, filling out nightly duty reports, and accurately performing check-ins.
Being available for assigned drives and dorm supervision shifts during move-in, move-out, and the beginning and end of breaks.
Arranging for your own coverage or a swap in the event of illness or other necessary absence from duty.
Attending all Community Dining events on Wednesday nights and hosting In-Home Community Dining once per semester (for a group of 6-10 boarding students).
Participating in meals in the Community Commons and on-campus activities and events regularly, even during non-duty times, as a member of the Residential Community.
Attending all meetings for ResLife Faculty.
Following all campus procedures/policies for campus safety and security.
Performing other duties as assigned to provide the best level of care for our boarding students.
Managing a group of students (3 - 5) in an advisory role as a Dorm Support Team (DST). This will include helping students check out of the dorm before breaks, as well as providing general care.

Some faculty housing is attached to the dorms. If/when that is the housing assigned, in addition to the On-Campus Faculty responsibilities enumerated above, responsibilities for Living-on-Dorm Faculty include and are not limited to:
Having a greater level of engagement with students on your wing, which may include mentoring students, conducting room checks before breaks, organizing hall-specific events, and more.
Being available and responding without prompting during severe weather, including monitoring weather, communicating with students and other on-campus faculty, and directing students to shelter/safety.
Communicating with the other LODs of your dorm if you will not be in the dorm residence overnight to ensure coverage; there must always be at least one LOD in each dorm overnight when students are present.
