Description
Major Position Duties:1. The Ojibwe Language and Culture Paraprofessional assists students OLC teachers in the
Ojibwe Language and Cultural classrooms to learn Ojibwe language and culture.
a. Assist students in Ojibwe language and cultural lessons and activities.
i. Help students understand their classroom assignments
ii. Assist students with classroom technology
iii. Move around assisting students
b. Individual, small group, and large group student supervision, including but not
limited to:
i. Lesson activities
ii. Field Trips
iii. Cultural Activities
c. Behavioral supervision and support for students who demonstrate difficulties with
self-regulation and/or appropriate social skills
i. Redirection to learning objectives
ii. Adherence to classroom rules
iii. Find what the student needs to be successful in the classroom
d. Supports for OLC teaching staff to ensure efficient and effective program operations,
including but not limited to:
i. Laminating materials
ii. Duplicating materials
iii. Filing materials
iv. Setting up for activities
e. Other duties assigned by the Indian Education Director, such as rotating with other
OLC teachers, attendance at staff meetings, Professional Learning Teams, preparing
and sending mail correspondence, or assisting with field trips
Qualifications / Requirements:
1. Ojibwe Language Skills
2. Ojibwe language and culture knowledge
3. Associate's degree, 64 College Credits, or Passing Score on Approved Para Test
4. CPI Training, First Aid, and CPR Training
5. Previous experience working with students in a classroom
6. Ability to maintain confidentiality
7. Good communication, computer, and organizational skills
8. Cooperative attitude and ability to take direction
9. Willingness to assist where needed
10. Ability to establish good working relationships and be a team player
Salary and Benefit Range:
Under MSEA PARA III Salary Starting Range of $23.84 - $24.52 per hour based on experience
(maximum of 3 years' experience credit given). Benefit
