  POSITION: Metallurgical EngineerLOCATION: Jupiter, FL. STATUS: Salary Exempt  Job Summary:Seeking a Metallurgical Engineer with basic knowledge of wrought, formed, and forged steel, cobalt, and nickel alloys. This includes understanding the effects of manufacturing processing and heat treatment on properties. Essential duties & responsibilitiesThe essential functions of the job include the following:Review and execute approval of special manufacturing processes that have metallurgical requirementsMaterial related non-conformance assessments and dispositionsRoot cause analysisGas turbine material selection: Stainless steel, low carbon steel, nickel, and cobalt alloys for components throughout the gas turbine. This includes:Forgings, sheet metal, plate, barResponsible for material and process qualification specification creation and revisionsOther duties as assigned  Education & TrainingBachelor's Degree in Metallurgical or Materials Engineering, or related field Skills/Experience0-15+ years of experience with metal alloys used for gas turbines preferred 0-15+ years Experience conducting evaluations of microstructure and defectsAvailable for travel to suppliers for qualification review and audits as neededProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite softwareMust be a detail-oriented, high energy, self-starter with the ability to drive the successful completion of projects within specified time framesProcess and team-oriented; able to work with a diverse workforce Strong written and oral communication skillsTrustworthy, quick learning, innovative and reliableMetallurgical lab evaluation technique experience preferred Familiar with commercial material specifications domestic and internationalAble to interpret engineering printsKnowledge of welding / brazing processes preferred Knowledge of protective coatings for gas turbine components preferred Investment casting process
