Description
Legal Engineer / Legal Solutions Architect
Orbital | US | New York
As a commercial real estate attorney, you've spent years helping property change hands. You know exactly how it should work. And you know how far the reality falls short.
The document reviews that take days when they should take hours. The same manual processes you've watched lawyers repeat deal after deal, year after year. The quiet frustration of knowing there's a better way - and not being able to do anything about it.
What if you could be the one who actually changes it?
Maybe you've looked at the partner track despairingly and thought, "is this really it?" Maybe you've closed a big deal and felt that something was still missing. Maybe you've curiously read about AI transforming legal and wondered how to be part of it - without knowing where to start.
This is where you start.
What we're building
Orbital specializes in building AI for real estate law. We help lawyers cut due diligence time by up to 70% - without compromising precision. We're trusted by AmLaw 100 firms and we're changing how property transactions actually get done.
We're being built with the expertise of recovering lawyers - people who understood the frustrations from the inside and decided to fix them rather than just live with them.
The US is our major growth market - we're investing heavily to build our American presence which means this is a ground-floor opportunity for you to help shape how we grow here.
What we're looking for
We're hiring attorneys who want to apply their legal expertise in a completely different way. We offer two paths based on your preferred route:
Legal Engineer - Work with product and engineering to translate real estate transaction workflows into AI-powered solutions. Shape how the technology works. Think of this as being more behind our product.
Legal Solutions Architect - Partner with law firms to identify use cases, run pilots, and drive adoption. Your legal credibility opens doors. Think of this as being more in front of our clients.
Your legal training isn't background here. It's the qualification.
The years you spent getting qualified, reading contracts, understanding real estate transaction nuances, speaking the language of property lawyers - that's not something you're leaving behind. It's the reason we want to talk to you. And your bar membership? With the personal learning budget we provide, you may decide to use it to keep that current too.
Most tech companies don't know what they don't know about real estate law. We do.
What this actually looks like
You might spend your morning in an AI brainstorm with engineers, explaining what lawyers actually need. Afternoon training an AmLaw 100 team on the platform - speaking their language because you've done their job. Then shipping a product improvement based on what you learned, knowing it'll help lawyers do their jobs better tomorrow.
No billable hours. No partner politics. The same intellectual rigor - with space to think creatively, autonomy to act independently, and a voice that helps shape our future.
You
US-qualified attorney with commercial real estate transaction experience. AI isn't a novelty to you - it's already changed how you do things in and out of work, and you can see where this is heading.
You've reached a high level in something - might be law, might be something completely unrelated - and you understand what it takes to get there. You've probably taught yourself skills to a high standard outside your remit because you were curious, not because anyone asked you to.
The partner track feels like a trap, not a prize. Structured training programs and defined career ladders aren't what motivate you. Shaping how real estate AI actually works and genuinely disrupting an industry, from the inside, is.
Interested? We're happy to have an informal conversation about what this could look like for you.
