Job Summary
The Lead Network Engineer designs, implements, manages, and optimizes a large-scale enterprise network infrastructure across hundreds of locations. This role is responsible for delivering secure, highly available, and high-performance connectivity across WAN, LAN, wireless, and hybrid cloud environments.
The position combines deep technical expertise in routing, security, automation, monitoring, and cloud networking with proactive performance management and cross-functional collaboration to ensure reliable and scalable network operations.
Key Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and optimize secure, scalable enterprise networks across multi-site environments.
Engineer high-performance connectivity including MPLS, dedicated internet access, point-to-point circuits, and cloud interconnect services.
Implement and support IPSec VPN solutions for secure communications.
Configure advanced routing protocols and traffic policies including BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, NAT, ACLs, and route maps.
Design and maintain enterprise wireless networks and access infrastructure.
Administer and support enterprise routing and switching platforms.
Manage DNS, DHCP, and IP address management platforms.
Implement network access control and authentication solutions.
Monitor network performance and availability using enterprise monitoring and analytics tools.
Perform deep traffic analysis to identify performance issues and security threats.
Troubleshoot complex network incidents across on-premise and cloud environments.
Develop and enforce network security policies and compliance standards.
Automate network operations to improve efficiency and consistency.
Optimize QoS, traffic engineering, and capacity planning initiatives.
Design and manage hybrid cloud networking in public cloud environments.
Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
Mentor junior engineers and support cross-functional technical initiatives.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 7 years of hands-on network engineering or architecture experience.
Strong expertise in enterprise WAN, routing protocols, VPN technologies, and network security controls.
Experience managing enterprise routing, switching, and wireless platforms.
Proficiency in network monitoring, performance analytics, and troubleshooting tools.
Experience with network automation and scripting frameworks.
Solid understanding of hybrid cloud networking concepts and architectures.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Certifications
Cisco CCNP or CCIE (Enterprise, Security, or Service Provider)
AWS Advanced Networking Specialty
Microsoft Azure Network Engineer certification
Relevant network performance or infrastructure certifications
