Position: Instructor/Assistant Professor of Automotive Technology - Full-Time, 10 Month, Tenure Track (PRODIG+ Community College program)PRODiG+CC Program
The Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth Plus Community College (PRODiG+CC) program is an initiative supported by the SUNY system that aims to:
- increase the number and share of excellent diverse community college faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- strengthen the pipeline for retention and support of these candidates; and
- hire qualified faculty directly into tenure-track positions to support the community colleges' efforts to build an educated workforce in the state.
Position Summary
The Instructor/Assistant Professor of Automotive Technology will serve students in the Automotive Technology Program through instruction, academic support, and service to the College.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach courses across all levels of Automotive Technology.
- Fulfill all full-time faculty responsibilities as outlined in the faculty collective bargaining agreement.
- Maintain a proactive role in academic and curricular review
- Incorporate and utilize instructional technology in the classroom
- Develop and teach online courses
- Provide academic advisement and tutoring to students
- Serve on at least one college or division committee
- Participate in outcomes assessment activities
- Hold regular office hours while classes are in session
- Maintain professional credentials and industry currency
- Teach daytime courses and may be expected to teach evening or weekend courses.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree
- Automotive Service Excellence Certification
- Be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
- Candidates must demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion, and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization
Preference will be given to candidates who are:
- Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or fellows
- From a low-income background (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates)
- First-generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor's degree)
- Individuals who have overcome adversity
- AmeriCorps alumni
- Veterans.

Starting Rank:
Academic rank with credentials and experience are determined in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Salary range:$60,600 -$67,212
