- High School Principal
Description
The High School Principal will champion and support the priorities and programs of the District. The Principal will provide instructional leadership in the school and for all day-to-day school operations including: curriculum planning, review and implementation; professional development; and staff and program evaluation. Responsibilities include administration and safety and welfare of students, staff and activities. The Principal works to ensure a safe, pleasant and effective educational atmosphere in which to forward the vision of the District. The Principal is responsible for knowing and implementing the priorities, policies, and procedures of the District.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Management of Personnel
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing, offering recommendations for employment, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating; employee management; addressing complaints and problem resolutions and effective employee supervision and improvement.
- Be aware of employee cultural competence and non-discriminatory practices.
- Lead and manage building staff. Evaluate performance and effectiveness of programs and staff.
- Develop the master schedule.
- Complete staff, student, and room assignments and building schedule.
- Monitor classes for teacher coverage, accurate record keeping of student attendance and employee absences.
- Monitor employee timekeeping records, purchase orders and invoices, work orders, requisitions.
- Monitor field trips for appropriateness and safety, completion of District records and data as required by the District.
- Coordinate training or development for staff.
- Participate in District-wide activities, professional development, training, and committees, as appropriate or directed.
- Implement policy and procedure from the Board, or the State and Federal level at the building level.
- Establish priorities for educational materials to meet the needs of students and teachers in accordance with the budget.
- Work with Central Office personnel to coordinate processes for the effective functioning of the school.
- Supervise extra-curricular activities.
- Establish and implement emergency procedures.
Management of Resources
- Responsible for the management of resources including expenditure of funds and the direction, motivation, supervision, and evaluation of programs, courses, and personnel.
- Responsible for the care and management of equipment, resources, and facilities.
- Oversee and maintain school budgets and work with the Business Office on budgeting/purchasing.
- Maintain current information on legal/financial developments of educational legislative reforms.
Curriculum and Program Development
- Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Board approved curriculum in a manner that effectively meets student needs.
- supervise course offerings to ensure compliance with District and state requirements.
- Conduct classroom observations and evaluation of teachers.
Pupil Assessment and Achievement
Responsible for the assessment and achievement of student outcomes, both academic and behavioral.
Establish school pupil assessments and monitor student achievement.
Qualification Requirements:

Education, license and/or experience:
- Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required.
- Certification through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as a Principal (5051) and as a teacher.
- Five (5) years successful public school teaching experience.
- Maintain a valid WI Driver’s License and the ability to drive between District buildings.
- Prior experience as a school or District Administrator preferred.
