- High School Principal - Hickman High School (2026-27)
Description
PURPOSE
The Columbia Public School District is seeking a Principal for Hickman High School beginning the 2026-2027 school year. The principal shall have the responsibility for planning, administering, coordinating, implementing, supervising and evaluating all educational activities. The principal will create a climate of trust and respect among all stakeholders in a manner that values their strengths and enhances progress toward goals. The principal is the instructional leader and is expected to champion and ensure Hickman’s professional learning community through tradition, integrity, diversity and excellence.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The Principal will conduct the following administrative responsibilities:
Develop goals, objectives, and priorities for the high school that align with district-wide goals and initiatives; including response to intervention (RTI), equity and inclusion work and restorative practices.
Work with internal and external stakeholders to establish programs and activities that support the district and school vision, mission, values, and goals.
Articulate and inspire a shared vision of learning that supports all students within a culture of dignity.
Maintain positive community, student and parent relations that promote active engagement based upon authentic partnerships and proactive communication.
Implement and supervise instructional programs to ensure graduates are competitive in a global economy.
Provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service and learning across all content and activities.
Supervise and support personnel and oversee operations at the building level.
Hire and supervise all assistant principals, teachers and staff.
Support and conduct informal and formal evaluations of teaching and administrative staff based upon frequent classroom observations to promote continuous learning and improvement of professional practice.
Form relationships and practices that maintain a safe, productive culture with fair disciplinary policies for all.
Plan and implement comprehensive extra-curricular programs for the school.
Oversee compliance with district policies.
Oversee use of facility, scheduling classes and activities.
Manage and monitor the budget for the school.
Understand and adhere to Board policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: Masters Degree in School Administration, Missouri Principal Certificate, clear evidence of successful classroom teaching experience, and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience as secondary principal or assistant principal. Ability to receive career certification for administration. Must be eligible to obtain career certification in appropriate time.
Preferred: Educational Specialist or Doctorate
