Role Description
The Field Service Engineer provides on-site installation, testing, troubleshooting, and customer support for Harmonic's cOS virtual CMTS. This is a full-time contract position for 612 months.
Location
This position is 100% Remote, based in the Midwestern, preferably in St. Louis Missouri.
What you will be doing:
- Install, test, and troubleshoot DAA systems, IP networks, and headend infrastructure.
- Build and audit headend subsystems, including installing/terminating coax, Cat5/Cat6, and fiber.
- Configure and verify headend equipment; perform system checks and diagnostics.
- Use RF and DOCSIS meters to test and certify installations.
- Complete documentation, test reports, and update network records.
- Train customers on system operation and maintenance.
- Act as an on-site liaison, identifying when issues should be routed to Sales, Support, or Engineering.
Follow safety procedures; lift up to 40 lbs.; work on ladders and variable schedules (including nights).
What you should have:
- At least 3 years of related field technician/engineering experience and an Associate's Degree.
- Mechanical aptitude for equipment installation and cabling work.
- Experience in Linux at an administrative level.
- Network troubleshooting CCNA/CCNP, and container knowledge.
- Basic knowledge of DOCSIS, fiber installation, and server/switch configuration.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and customer-facing communication.
- Ability to lift 3040 lbs and work on a ladder.
- Willingness to learn.
