Description
CULINARY ARTS INSTRUCTORS / CABIN COUNSELORS
We are searching for instructors for our cooking and culinary arts program.
The cooking program is a one-period class program designed to teach children (ages 10-15) simple cooking skills. Projects include food items that can be prepared within one hour.
We also operate a Culinary Arts Program which operates for about 3 hours and extends for about 5 days. The Culinary Arts Program is designed to teach cooking skills to children (ages 10-15) who are serious about learning how to cook. Campers learn how to prepare a variety of full-course meals, starting from scratch. They also practice proper food handling, food storage safety, and the use of cooking tools, knives, and kitchen equipment.
Meals are planned around themes which in the past have included: Italian Celebration, Mexican Fiesta, Southern Buffet, Mediterranean Nights, Sports Party Madness, Chinese Banquet, Thanksgiving Dinner, Classic Sunday Brunch, etc. From appetizers to soups and salads, and entrees to desserts, our goal is for campers to learn the skills of the trade and create tasty delights and sumptuous delicacies that they'll be able to produce at home for family and friends.
A detailed job description for this position is available by contacting our staff coordinator at zach@lohikan.com.
Our Cooking/Culinary Arts Program is described online at https://www.lohikan.com/cooking.php

CAMP LOHIKAN in the Pocono Mts.
Camp Lohikan is a traditional summer camp for boys and girls of the ages 6 to 15. We are located in the Pocono Mts. of northeastern Pennsylvania in the village of Lake Como. We're about 2.5 hours from New York City.
Camp Lohikan has been operated by the Buynak Family since 1957. We are a warm, welcoming camp community dedicated to caring for our campers and staff. Our goal is to provide an environment of support and encouragement where children will try new things and grow in the process. We are searching for individuals who are kind and willing to put kids first always. Click here for more information about Camp Lohikan and our program.
We pay the BEST salaries to recruit the BEST staff!
Nothing is more important than our staff and we know it. If you are a hard-working individual who enjoys children, you may be just the person we're searching for. Staff members must be able to put kids first at all times. It is also essential that staff members be strong role models for our campers. And because we're working with kids, we have strict policies in many areas including alcohol, smoking, curfew, etc. While it is preferable that our staff members have some experience working with children, this is not a prerequisite. Many program areas require skills and certifications to safely operate and this is a priority.
400+ SUMMER CAMP JOBS AVAILABLE!
We have over 400 summer camp jobs available. Some jobs are highly skilled positions (i.e., lifeguard, horseback riding instructor, rock climbing, flying trapeze, etc.), others require child care experience (i.e., general cabin counselor), and then there are jobs where you will receive all of the necessary training at camp. If you are compassionate, hard-working, and an excellent role model, we have a job for you! Click here for an employment application.
Camp Lohikan shares staff applications with Camp Cayuga and Lake Greeley Camp. All three camps are coed resident camps located in northeast Pennsylvania and have been operated by the Buynak family since 1957. Click here for more information.
Working at camp is the experience of a lifetime. The personal growth, the rewards of working with children, the excitement of an active, diverse community and the close friendships that you form will stay with you long after the summer ends. Working at camp will make you a better person. And that you'll take with you wherever you go. Many staff members describe their employment at Camp Lohikan as the BEST summer of their lives. - All applicants must be individuals with high moral character and a strong work ethic. Working in camp and counseling children is hard work!
- We expect our staff members to be excellent role models for our campers. Previous experience working with children is preferred but not mandatory. The capacity to provide warm, mature guidance is most important.

- As a condition of employment applicants must pass Camp Lohikan's pre-offer and post-offer staff screening processes which include: reference checks, criminal background checks, sex-offender registry checks, and other staff screening checks deemed appropriate.
- Please note that Camp Lohikan is a non-smoking (no vaping) camp.
