Overview

Sev1Tech is seeking a candidate to support the Coast Guard in Kearneysville, WV. This position provides senior-level engineering support for enterprise backup and recovery solutions, with a primary focus on optimizing and consolidating Commvault services to deliver a unified, scalable backup architecture across the enterprise. Duties include the following:Lead efforts to consolidate Commvault services and other legacy backup solutions into a unified enterprise backup and recovery platformEngineer, configure, and optimize Commvault environments to improve performance, reliability, and scalabilityDesign and support backup, restore, and archiving solutions leveraging cloud storage technologiesProvide technical expertise for cloud-based backups, data protection, and long-term archiving strategiesOptimize Commvault integration with VMware virtualization platformsOptimize Commvault integration with NetApp storage solutions, ensuring efficiency and best practicesCollaborate with infrastructure, systems, and storage teams to ensure backup solutions align with operational and data protection requirements

Responsibilities

Active Secret Security ClearanceAbility to be onsite 3 days a weekBachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related degree7+ years of experience in enterprise data protection or infrastructure engineering roles5+ years of hands-on experience designing and administering CommvaultenvironmentsMust hold or have ability to meet IAT Level II certificationSecurity+ or equivalent certificationStrong knowledge of:
Storage (SAN/NAS/object)Virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)Windows & Linux serversCloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS)
Experience with DR planning, replication technologies, and business continuity frameworksProficiency with scripting (PowerShell, Python, or similar)Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills

Qualifications

Commvault Certifications (e.g., CCIA, CCSA, CCP).Experience with Kubernetes backup strategies (K10, Commvault Metallic K8s)Knowledge of Zero Trust / cyber recovery vault architecturesExperience supporting large-scale DOD or Federal systems
