In October 2025, Kean University and New Jersey City University (NJCU) signed a definitive agreement advancing a merger between the two state universities. The merger will position Kean as a statewide anchor institution and strengthens our ability to serve New Jersey's diverse student population and uplift communities through education. The merger is currently progressing through the appropriate levels of approval, with a goal to complete this process by July 1, 2026.
12 Month Part-time and Full-time Lecturer Opportunities for Academic Year 2026-2027
We are excited to grow our faculty and invite Lecturer applications for the fall, effective September 1, 2026. 12 Month Lecturers are non-tenure track faculty and teach 36 credits for the academic year; part-time Lecturers teach 18 credits for the academic year. Lecturers are required to teach, provide student academic support, provide service to the university and community and perform other related faculty responsibilities. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is also required, consistent with University guidelines. 12 Month Lecturers are responsible for performing their teaching and non-teaching responsibilities for the twelve-month period of their appointment.
Employment at Kean requires working at any of our New Jersey campus locations or affiliated work sites, which may include, but not be limited to: the main campus in Union; Kean Ocean in Toms River; Kean Skylands in Jefferson Township; Kean Jersey City; Kean at Brookdale in Middletown Township; Manahawkin; Princeton; and Trenton. Location assignments will be based on operational and university needs. Faculty may also be assigned to teach online classes for Kean Global. Teaching assignments may include day, evening and weekend courses. Evening hours are required based on department needs for teaching evening/night courses and for most graduate course assignments.
The Department of Physician Assistant Studies seeks a Lecturer to primarily teach foundational/basic science courses in the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program. Teaching responsibilities will emphasize human physiology, anatomy, pathophysiology, and pharmacology, with limited involvement in clinical medicine and clinical skills instruction.
The successful candidate will actively participate in program accreditation, assessment, and continuous quality improvement activities; contribute to curriculum development and integration of basic sciences across the didactic curriculum; and perform other Lecturer duties as assigned. Limited participation in clinical site visits and student assessment activities may be required, consistent with program needs.
Required Qualifications: Master's degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies, Medicine (MD or DO), or a closely related field; at least one year of teaching experience in a Physician Assistant program, medical school, or other graduate health professions program; eligibility for appropriate professional licensure in the State of New Jersey (Physician Assistant or Physician); and current national certification (NCCPA for PAs or board certification/board eligibility for physicians).
Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching basic or foundational sciences (e.g., anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology) at the graduate or professional level; three or more years of clinical practice experience; experience with curriculum integration, student assessment, or accreditation activities in PA or medical education; and formal training or advanced coursework in education, basic sciences, or curriculum design.

In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Law, the negotiated annual salary range for this position is $109,277.86 - $116,564.85. Part-time salaries will be prorated. Salaries for internal applicants who are aligned under a collective bargaining unit will be determined in accordance with contractual guidelines. This position may also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, a retirement plan and benefits for work life balance.
